how to travel well with our groups /

our trips cater to a specific style of traveler: one who is bold, respectfully curious, and looking to grow from their experiences.

our itineraries– packed with opportunities to discover new lands and cultures and balanced by restorative moments to stay grounded to self– attract this adventurous traveler.

we think you’d travel well with us if you:

go with the flow / we’ll always provide you with a current itinerary and announce any changes as soon as possible, but the reality of travel, especially in some of the more remote and off-the-beaten path regions we frequent, is that things can change, and many regions around the world live slower than our hustling american culture. the bold traveler is prepared to adapt to these shifts and lean into pauses as opportunities to take in new surroundings, understanding that some of the most memorable moments are the unexpected ones.

are open to trying new things / by design, cultural immersion travel takes us beyond the familiar. expect to be exposed to new foods, languages, traditions, climates and environments. many resources that americans are accustomed to (large supplies of hot water with good water pressure, plumbing that can manage toilet paper, fast wifi, strong a/c, etc) are not available globally. be prepared (we’re here to help!), commit to moving through the world with acknowledgment and respect, and stay open to learning or trying something new.

understand your boundaries / we all know the best things happen outside our comfort zone, and we can safely explore that exciting space when we have a strong connection to our own boundaries and know how we can challenge them. an adventurous traveler is willing to resource themselves well (and ask us for help when needed!) so they can challenge those boundaries and stay in community with the group as they explore the same growth.

enjoy the journey / curious travelers love the opportunity to explore on foot, and to adopt local modes of transportation the chance to experience a busy rail through a european city, or hop in the bed of a pickup truck in rural latin america.  the bold traveler is also prepared to get by on foot as needed and packs accordingly, knowing they may meet uneven cobblestone streets or unexpected route blocks that may require some unscheduled extra steps or carrying of luggage. travelers should understand that our retreats tend to be active with plenty of walking (including inclines/steps) and should reach out to society verde before booking if there are any concerns about mobility issues or conditions that might impact participation.

so, is it time to plan a trip with us?! if you’re not so sure, we’d still love to help you travel well. there’s a way to explore the world that feels right for anyone. email melissa, society verde founder and experienced travel designer, at hello@societyverde.com to chat about options and itineraries that can be created just for you.
