this trip is full. email hello@societyverde.com for information on waitlist.

SEPTEMBER 3 - 8 2023

our next society verde explore & restore trip is a venture to the emerald isle, and you’re invited.

the irish appreciate merriment so much, they have their own unique word for it. craic - an atmosphere of joy through human connection - is something we all could use, and it’s why we’ve selected ireland as our next location to gather with you. on our retreat through the eastern region of this lush green country, you’ll spend your first two nights in dublin to explore irish beer, whiskey, and the protected creative culture (dublin is a unesco city of literature) as you stroll the cobblestone streets of the irish capital. after each bustling day, you’ll retreat to your cozy bed in a top-ranked hotel that offers a nod in name and dapper style to one of ireland’s most beloved poets.

you’ll cap off your retreat with three chill nights in the boyne valley, just an hour outside of dublin. here, we’ll share a six-bedroom home on an organic farm, an environment that will inspire settling into a more restorative pace to connect with the late summer vibes. you’ll have acres of rolling fields and forest to wander, a natural swimming pool, and a wood-fired hot tub. you’ll nourish yourself with locally-sourced and organic meals, and a kayak journey past slane castle + electric bike rentals to explore nearby villages will be available to you as retreat add-ons.

about dublin + slane /

the irish hold a reputation of being a friendly and helpful bunch, and ireland boasts a young, progressive, and inclusive population that is growing in diversity. dublin, ireland’s seaside capital, is a unesco city of literature with a storied history of creativity in many mediums. it’s famed libraries celebrate native authors, and open mic venues hold stages for the next big names to emerge from the city.

our accommodations in dublin are housed in portobello, in the southern city center along the banks of a canal. translated as ‘beautiful harbor,’ portobello is known for its trendsetting ways. you’ll find plenty to explore here, and maybe more importantly, you’ll get a good night’s sleep here, away from the late-night noise of more touristy neighborhoods.

slane, on the banks of the boyne river, is a small hillside village dating from the 18th century. situated in the boyne valley, in an area known as ‘ireland’s ancient east,’ nearby historical sites and ruins, prehistoric landscapes, and the slane castle make a visit to this village a meaningful one.

our early september visit to eastern ireland should be mild, with highs around the mid-60s and lows in the 50s. expect some chance of rain (and rainbows!) with plenty of clear sky between.

you’ll find plenty of hills and rolling elevations to explore in slane, located a bit inland and north of dublin – plan to pack your favorite walking shoes.

accommodation & rates /

for your stay in dublin, we’ve reserved room at a top-ranked townhouse in the portobello neighborhood. you’ll sleep on the outer circle of the city center – which means you’ll sleep well, tucked away from the late-night, touristy bar scene.

but when you are in party mode, that scene is only a 20-minute walk away, and we’re also equipping you with an unlimited metro pass so you can easily explore any neighborhood.

amenities in dublin include wifi, rainfall shower, in-room nespresso machine + tea kit + mineral water, a/c and fireplace, tv, and fully stocked toiletries. twin beds + king bed options.

after our two days in the city, we’re taking you up into ireland’s ‘ancient east’ to spend three nights in a beautifully-appointed farmhouse set on an organic permaculture farm. morning and evening yoga practices will bookend days with plenty of free time to retreat as you wish – you can schedule add-on activities like kayaking past slane castle or renting an electric bike to explore the neighboring villages and historic sites. or you can claim time to wander on foot through the village of slane, explore the farm property and its trails, hop into the pond for a swim, or sink into our wood-fired eco hot tub.

amenities in slane: shared group home, private to our group (access to living spaces + kitchen), bathrooms for each room with basic amenities, wifi.

lifestyle considerations for our itinerary in ireland:

language / english is the predominantly spoken language.

modes of transportation / each traveler will be given an unlimited metro card for easy access around dublin (travler assumes responsibility for lost or stolen cards) though walking short distances may make more sense at times, and may be the designated group mode of transportation. the village of slane is set on a steep hillside, and walking routes may require some changes in elevation. the transfer from dublin international airport to our hotel will be an estimated 30-45 minutes. transfer from hotel in dublin to slane is estimated 60 minutes, and from slane back to dublin international airport is estimated 45-50 minutes.

noise / though we’ve chosen accommodations on a quiet street in dublin away from bars, we are still staying within city limits; light sleepers may choose to pack earplugs or eye masks.

ireland retreat investment $2650 / return traveler $2350

all rooms are priced for double occupancy. solo travelers are always welcome, but no single occupancy upgrades available. solo travelers will be paired with another solo traveler.

why society verde + why ireland /

our philosophy is that travel truly makes you richer, and our carefully curated trips offer a depth of unique experiences, a spotlight on rich cultures, and new ways to encourage courageous connection to community and the planet. through our small group travel offerings, we invite you to share our values of sustainability, discovery, and connection.

a group arrangement creates new bonds as you connect on a meaningful level with your house and travel mates over shared experiences, and those experiences themselves suddenly become accessible: premium, unique digs (the property we’ll stay on in slane belongs to the same family who built slane castle in the 18th century. the family uses the castle and land to share local + international creative talent, from big-name concerts at the castle to local farmers’ shares being sold at their market.) and meaningful excursions (private tours of a castle distillery) become reality when you share them with a group of like-minded fellow travelers. no overly-toured locales, abused resources, or crowded tour busses here.

we do the research and build the relationships to offer truly authentic experiences that promote community and sustainability. in ireland, we look forward to embracing craic – that simple merriment found in the company of others – and gathering inspiration from witnessing the responsible cultivation of storied land.

our explore and restore itineraries combine just enough cultural engagement and education with time to restore through intentionally-scheduled downtime facilitated by society verde founder mkm, an experienced, educated provider of energy-balacing movement and mindfulness practices. melissa’s yoga retreat philosophy is that restorative mat practices can help ground us, wherever we are in the world, so we can meaningfully explore off the mat, fully connecting to the people and spaces around us.
